Plug-in Overview

Three-dimensional geological models are the basis for development control. An integral step in creating the digital equivalent of the productive layers is an expert assessment of quality of three-dimensional models. There are two types of criteria for assessing the adequacy of the model: quantitative and qualitative. Qualitative criteria are based on subjective assessment of the model by the expert. Quantitative criteria involve the calculation of various parameters of the model and their comparison with the same parameters of input data. The model is estimated as adequate to input data, if the value of the difference of parameters falls within a specified interval. The ExpertiseModel plug-in automates the processes necessary for these examination in Petrel, to save you time. This plug-in allows users to assess the quality of their three-dimensional geological models and display the results of the examination in the form of Petrel objects (Well Tops attributes, maps, functions), as well as tables and graphs in Excel.

Specifications

• The plug-in calculates 25 parameters from well logs, upscaled well logs and from cells penetrated by the wells. The results of calculations are recorded as attributes of the well tops.
• Plug-in generates 2D maps from 3D properties for parameters listed above. Maps are saved in the Surfaces folder on Input panel.
• Plug-in calculates a layer-weighten mean value for 3D properties and upscaled logs and builds functions which are saved in the Functions folder on Input panel.
• Plug-in generates an excel report file with tables and cross-plots.

Features

The source data used in the calculation includes: grids, wells, well tops, well logs and 3D properties. The plug-in allows selecting the type of calculations. Plug-in calculates a geological parameters and record the results as the attributes of the well tops. Plug-in generates 2D maps from 3D properties for these parameters. Plug-in calculates a layer-weighten mean value for 3D properties and upscaled logs and builds functions.
