Well-level production optimizations focus on petrophysical evaluation, stimulation design, and single well production forecasting. Petrel Pad Placement and Pad Well Design focuses on the field level and creates pads and wells, with an objective to maximize reservoir coverage under constaints. RapidPlan goes one step further to optimize in consideration of production and economics.

Plug-in Overview

RapidPlan extends unconventional FDP from pad placement and well design to production forecasting, scheduling, economics, and uncertainty analysis. It allows quick evaluation of FDP proposals using production type curves or reservoir simulation.

Regional type curve workflow

  • Takes pads and wells from Petrel Pad Placement and Well Design
  • Takes regional type curves with uncertainty (i.e. P10/P50/P90)
  • Generates production profile, scaled by well length and spacing
  • Well length and spacing optimization, FDP ranking, and reporting

Analytical simulation workflow

  • Integrates subsurface reservoir model (pressure, saturation, depth, porosity, etc.)
  • Runs quick analytical simulation to generate production at select well locations
  • Generates Estimated Ultimate Recovery (EUR) map for the field

Quality map workflow

  • Generates production profile for wells from quality map (e.g. EUR map).

Features

RapidPlan provides a set of workflows to optimize unconventional FDP for data-rich or data-poor scenarios. It takes FDPs generated by Petrel Pad Placement and Well Design as inputs and calculates production profiles and economics for each FDP. Production can be from type curves or reservoir simulation.
