Flow simulations can now be carried out which accurately account for the stimulation effect on production.

Plug-in Overview

This utility provides a guided workflow for detailed grid representation of hydraulic fractures. A local grid refinement (LGR) is automatically generated at each specified fracture plane. The user can interactively set the fracture location, shape, size and orientation. The utility also updates the simulation case of interest with relevant fracture parameters and well connections.

Specifications

  • Blackoil and compositional fluids are supported
  • Grids generated using vertical pillars are recommended
  • All fractures planes are vertical
  • Fracture planes may be perpendicular to the wellbore, or may be assigned an azimuthal angle
  • Fracture geometry (length left and right, height up and down, width) are fully controlled by the user.
