Simultaneous Inversion of P-Wave and Converted Wave Data
Inversion of converted wave data can improve subsurface imaging by improving the quality of the shear impedance result. But the best results come from simultaneously inverting the P-wave and converted wave data together. The RockMC optional add-on to RockTrace gives you this capability, whether the data is collected onshore or with ocean bottom cables.
Since RockTrace uses the full KZ, it supports the seismic inversion of P-P wave data and, with the optional P-S add-on module, P-S converted wave data, or a combination of both.
RockMC also provides additional tools for wavelet estimation so that a proper P-S reflection series is derived from the well log data for P-S wavelet estimation. In this way, multiple angle stacks from the P-wave data and Multiple angle stacks from the P-S data (and their associated wavelets) can all be put into the RockMC simultaneous inversion, yielding superior estimates of P- and S-impedance for rock property characterization.
