Rarely do seismically defined subsurface structures translate directly into their depth equivalents. Being able to predict the subsurface depth structure accurately and consistently is critical to reliably estimating drilling costs. Transforming seismic time into subsurface depth meets with many technical challenges. VelPro provides comprehensive post-stack velocity modeling designed to seamlessly integrate seismic and well velocity information, horizons, faults, and well tops into a robust and data-driven velocity model.
Post-Stack Velocity Modeling
VelPro's ease of use, flexibility and scalability helps interpreters and depth conversion experts build high-quality velocity models in record time.
Fit for Purpose Import/Export Tools
VelPro offers a suite of tools designed specifically to solve the challenges of loading a host of well and seismically based velocity information quickly and easily into a project. Import tools for ASCII, SEGY, Velocity Data Bank and other industry standard seismic velocity formats are provided. The import/export suite also includes tools for loading horizons, faults, fault polygons, culture (including ESRI shape files), well locations, check shots, tops, directional surveys and curves (ASCII and LAS 2). The tools for importing ASCII information incorporate familiar to the industry paint-the-field techniques.
Data QC and Conditioning
Once seismic and well velocity information is available within a VelPro project, a wide variety of tools deigned to help asset team members QC and condition their data is ready for use. The VelPro cross section tool will help interpreters quickly evaluate the quality of the seismic velocity data sets. Team members can interactively flip between interval, average or RMS velocity domains in either time or depth and progress through a volume quickly in order to best assess its value and accuracy.
Easy to use editors also provide a means for the inspection and QC of data quality problems interactively. Spurious data points may be discovered and dealt with before any subsequent activities are impacted by them. In many projects older seismic velocity data may have been loaded manually and may need to be subsequently edited. Check shots and time depth functions at wells may need to be reviewed and evaluated for consistency and accuracy within VelPro’s Function Editor. The Layer Analysis tool may reveal well misties that resulted from incorrect well tops or spurious well velocity information.
Multi-Survey & Multi-Domain
VelPro supports the integration of multiple seismic surveys at any scale. Single or multipl
