Digilog is an interactive program for digitizing scanned graphic images. Digilog was written for the professional geologist that needs to convert paper electric logs to X,Y numerical data. Although logs can be digitized on a digitizer tablet, few professionals have access to expensive digitizers. Digilog bypasses the digitizer and permits the digitizing to be completed on the computer screen using a scanned image. Hand scanners are less expensive than digitizing tablets, are wide enough to scan an entire log, and can scan images that are longer than affordable digitizer boards.
Digilog was written for the Windows environment to facilitate graphic manipulation of the scanned image. Moreover, the Windows environment permits interaction with other programs that can use the digitized data (spreadsheets, graphic programs, etc).
