SimOpt is an interactive computer program that assists in the steps traditionally taken when trying to achieve a history match between an ECLIPSE 100/300 simulation model and the corresponding observed reservoir data. By applying mathematical techniques, it provides additional information on which the reservoir engineer can exercise judgement to improve the history match.
SimOpt is not a magic solution to the problem of history matching. It simply tries to present complex information in a meaningful way and help alleviate the more tedious aspects of the process. It can not be a substitute for the engineer’s thought process, as there is no substitute for good engineering judgement and knowledge.
